Michelle Richeson works in a variety of media, including oil, watercolor, casein, pastel, and sculpture. A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, she attended Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Communications.

Michelle has studied with such well-known artists as Ramon Kelley, Steve Quiller, Daniel Greene, Wende Caporale, Urania Christy-Tarbet, and John Molnar. From each of these instructors she has picked up guidance and direction while at the same time developing a unique and expressive style of her own.

Her fine arts work has been augmented by broad experience in the commercial art world which has enabled her to experiment, grow, and observe a wide variety of styles and methods.

Up until 2004 she served as Creative Director for Jack Richeson and Company, creating numerous magazine ads and package designs for the company’s wide array of art supplies, instructional materials, and artists’ furniture. In that position she has worked with a list of artists that include Kate Palmer, Lawrie Williamson, Zoltan Szabo, and many, many others. She has also assisted in the production of videos for Jack Richeson’s Famous Painter Films video series.

“What vision I may have comes from observing – and absorbing – the realities before me. I am a native of northeast Wisconsin but it is through travel that my vision is most stimulated. I am entranced by the moments that dance before us yet may be gone, perhaps forever, the next time we look. The serene landscape . . . the traditional workers . . . these move me.”

“I work in oils, pastels, and a variety of watermedia to acknowledge these segments of time in my work. Capturing a fleeting moment that may not exist thirty years from now may simply remind us all to slow down and appreciate that moment in time.”
